Rimmel Stay Matte Foundation and NYX HD Primer

Hey petals
I bought the Rimmel Stay Matte foundation a few months ago after seeing the amazing advert on the TV and I was totally sucked in. It promises to be a lightweight, non cakey foundation which controls shine. I bought the shade 200 Soft Beige.

After using it a couple of times I didn't really like, although it was matte I found it very thick, cakey and disappointing. Therefore I forgot about it and just put it to the back of my make up stash. However coming into the winter period I wanted more of a matte finish drugstore foundation for everyday purposes as opposed to using my dewy finish wake me up foundation, also by Rimmel. So I decided to dig out the stay matte again and give it another go.

The first time I used it I used my Real Techniques Expert Face brush, which didn't work for me, so this time I decided to go for a trusty Stippling brush.... And there we have it. It was all in the brush. The foundation was great!

The stippling brush applied a thinner coat and was not cakey at all. In fact I would go as far to say that it actually leaves a flawless airbrushed finish. It is quite heavy coverage even with a thin coat but this is great as it covers mostly all my imperfections and redness. It is extremely matte and lasts all day.

And the next day I used it, I made it even better by using it with my new NYX HD Studio Photogenic Primer. I didn't notice too much of a difference when applying it but when taking my daily selfie (vain I know) I noticed my skin looked amazing. In the photo's it was smooth, flawless and the best it has ever looked (high five to self!)

When using the primer with other foundations I didn't notice too much of a difference that's why I have barely used it. I don't have much experience with primers because some have given me allergic reactions. But this has been fine so far and I love the finish. The name really does do it justice because I looked much better in photo's than I normally would.

Sorry I look so rubbish in the photo's above but you get the idea. My face does look a bit flat but I have no blush, bronzer and contour on, this is purely the foundation and primer.

Some people haven't gone on with this foundation at all but I will be using these products loads over the cold months and definitely on those days when I need a little bit of extra coverage. I think I have now found the perfect combination.

Thanks for reading roses

P.S. Here is the infamous selfie that I took when I discovered how amazing my skin looked after using these products.

Its a miracle!

    1. Yh it's a good drugstore foundation and a bargain at £5. I bought it on the NYX website (The link is in the post), I think you can buy NYX in some Next stores but not all of them x

    1. It does look quite basic and nothing special, it wouldn't have caught my eye if I hadn't have seen the advert on TV. Thanks a lot :) I think its worth a try x

  8. Gosh, what brilliant coverage! I really want to try this, I like a matte finish but I'm wary as my skin can be a bit temperamental. Definitely going to try and pick this up!

    1. The coverage is absolutely amazing on me and I have horrible scars on my skin. It's only £5 so if you don't get on with it at least you haven't wasted loads of money x

  9. The coverage looks really good but the thickness puts me off. I always apply concealer with my hands but with a brush it looks great x

    1. It is quite a thick foundation but I found that a stippling brush spread it out a lot better x
